rug tufting
Me and my friend went to a rug tufting class at the Artisan’s Playhouse!
This is how it went…
We arrived at the Artisan’s Playhouse and picked out our spots. The teacher gave an explanation on how to handle the tufting gun and what not to do while making your rug. There was a lot of sharp materials so we had to be very careful.
First, I picked out a design. I decided to create a rug inspired by the Comme Des Garçons logo.
We used a projector to trace our designs on a fabric attached to a wooden frame.
tHEN IT WAS TIME TO START TUFTING
I picked out the different colors of thread I was going to be using and attached them to the tufting frame.
After I was done tufting the whole heart with eyes, we had to apply a layer of thick carpet glue to the back.
We left after this and had to come back another day finish the rug so It can dry before the last steps. Two days later, we returned. I started by cutting the heart out of the white fabric and applying more glue to the back of the rug. We cut the sides and applied the backing, and used a hot glue gun to secure the tips. The last step was just to trim the rug and vacuum.
